PDP Membership Of 25 Pro-Wike Lawmakers In Rivers Secured By Court

The Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt has ruled that the 25 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule, remain members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Justice Okogbule Gbasam, delivering the judgement on Monday, stated that Martin Amaewhule and the other 26 lawmakers are still officially affiliated with the PDP. The court found that the claimants failed to provide sufficient evidence to demonstrate that the lawmakers had indeed defected to the APC. Justice Gbasam emphasized that defection can only be established through official party records such as the membership register or membership cards, and by fulfilling all requirements of membership in the party.
