**PDP Only Supporting The Cvr In Edo To Sneak In Asue Ighodaro’s Name Into The Voters RegisterIn the wake of the torrential rainfall and unprecedented flooding that ravaged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)headquarters in Benin City, Edo State, last Friday, only the PDP is probably unaware of the far-reaching damage inflicted upon INEC’s infrastructure and equipment.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HEREā¶
According to Dr. Anugbum Onuoha, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Edo State, the INEC headquarters in Benin City was completely inundated, with the entire compound submerged in floodwater.
Dr. Anugbum Onuoha said Cars, generators, and vital equipment intended for the CVR exercise were irreparably damaged, rendering them unusable. Furthermore, the offices downstairs, including the crucial ICT building, were severely affected, hindering the Commission’s ability to carry out its operations effectively.
Is the PDP so ignorant not to fathom the fact that the damaged infrastructure and equipment pose significant logistical challenges that could not been solved overnight?
What of the loss of vital resources, including voter enrollment machines already configured to suit the PDP which were devastated by the floods? What is the rush by INEC to continue the CVR in aid of, if not to pacify the PDP state government?
Asue Akintunde Ighodalo is not registered as a voter in Edo State. The All Progressives Congress understands that the desperation of PDP for the CVR is to use the window to sneak Ighodaro’s name into the Voters register.
Senator Monday Okpebholo’s School Certificate he got in Nigeria were he passed all his subjects, including Mathematics is far better than the Second Class Lower Division in law the PDP candidate, Asue Akintunde Ighodalo secured in London with a Federal Government Scholarship.
We insist that the compromised integrity of the electoral process is a statement of fact that as a party, the APC has established in its earlier Press statements.
Prior to the floods, the APC was aware that the PDP government led by outgoing Governor Obaseki was funding the manipulation of voter registration data.
The collusion between INEC officials, in particular, the wife of a PDP chieftain who works in INEC ICT unit in Bayelsa, and the outgoing state government is apparent and so the electoral umpire cannot be expected to be fair and transparent in the CVR exercise.
Proceeding with the exercise undermine public confidence in the electoral process as it is designed to benefit the PDP.
There is absolutely no need for INEC to proceed with the CVR if not for the ulterior motive of fulfilling its part of the deal with the PDP. We believe INEC is completely overwhelmed and cannot function at full capacity.
Our earlier concerns have manifest today as registration has failed to to commence across the state due to absence of INEC personnel.
What INEC should be doing is taking measures to address the logistical challenges posed by the flooding, including the prompt repair and replacement of damaged infrastructure and equipment.
Comrade Jarrett Tenebe,
Acting State Chairman
APC, Edo State.
