Likewise, the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which convened at the High Court in Jos, dismissed the petition filed by Alfred Dabwan and his New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) against Caleb Mutfwang.
The petitioners sought to nullify the governorship election of March 18, 2023, in which Caleb Mutfwang was declared the winner.
They argued that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) unlawfully excluded the NNPP’s logo from the ballot.
Additionally, the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal, also seated in Jos, declared Fom Dalyop Chollom of the Labour Party as the winner of the National Assembly Elections held on February 25, 2023, for the Barkin Ladi Riyom federal constituency.
Fom contested the election’s outcome, claiming that Peter Gyenden of the PDP was not validly nominated by the PDP as the party lacked a valid structure during the nomination.
In response to the tribunal’s verdict, Governor Caleb Mutfwang expressed his satisfaction with the ruling, which affirmed him as the duly elected Governor of Plateau state, following a petition brought forth by Alfred Clark Dabwang, the NNPP candidate in the March 18, 2023, governorship election.
The tribunal, presided over by Hon. Justice A. Y. Joh, dismissed the NNPP candidate’s petition, which alleged the exclusion of his party’s logo.
