Governor Mutfwang underscored the significance of these elections in fostering much-needed development in rural communities across the state. He reiterated the strong bond between citizens and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which he described as a beacon of hope and prosperity for Plateau State.
Expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support he received from the Southern Zone during the 2023 elections, he urged them to extend the same backing in the upcoming local government elections scheduled for October 9, 2024. The Governor outlined his administration’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure within the Southern Senatorial Zone, announcing the approval of substantial funding for electricity provision, as well as ongoing efforts to improve access to clean water and build a reliable road network.
Mutfwang also reassured the public of his dedication to inclusive governance, stating, “I want to make it clear that those who contested for various positions and were not successful will not be sidelined; my administration is determined to involve everyone in the governance process.” He called on the people of Plateau South to support the PDP in the forthcoming local government elections, promising a new era of meaningful democratic benefits for the district.
“I assure you that my administration is committed to fulfilling its promises; with God’s grace, I will be with you throughout this term,” he declared. The Governor expressed confidence in the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) to conduct free, fair, and credible elections, vowing to restore transparency in the electoral process. He also presented flags to all the PDP Chairmanship candidates in the zone.
Dakas Shan, the PDP Zonal Vice Chairman for the North Central Zone, voiced optimism that Plateau South remains a stronghold for the PDP, forecasting a resounding victory in both Chairmanship and Councilorship positions across the 17 local government areas.
Earlier, Governor Mutfwang paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Highness, Miskoom Martin Sheldas III, the Long Gamai of the Gamai Nation and Chairman of the Shendam Traditional Council. The Governor expressed his appreciation for the traditional ruler’s support during the 2023 elections and thanked God for his recovery. He solicited continued support from the traditional council to promote development within the area.
In response, His Royal Highness, Miskoom Martin Sheldas III, expressed gratitude for the Governor’s visit and reaffirmed the commitment of the Shendam LGA people to support the Governor’s transformative political vision.
