Two Igbo candidates, Austin Nwachukwu and Okoro Uzoma Anthony, have won their respective councillorship positions in the recent Plateau State Local Council elections.
On Monday, the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) awarded certificates of return to 304 elected councillors, including Nwachukwu and Uzoma.
Nwachukwu, hailing from Abia State, was elected to represent Tafawa Bela Ward in Jos North Local Government Area, while Okoro, an indigene of Imo State, secured the councillorship for Vanderpuye Ward, also in Jos North. Both candidates ran under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party.
During the certificate presentation at PLASIEC headquarters in Jos, chairman Plangji Cishak congratulated the elected councillors for their success in the council polls held the previous Wednesday.
