On the night of Thursday, February 9, the Super Eagles players paid solemn respects to the four Nigerians who lost their lives during the match against South Africa on Wednesday, February 7.
The unfortunate casualties included Cairo Ojougboh, a prominent APC chieftain, a Nigerian businessman residing in Ivory Coast, a dedicated NYSC member, and Alhaji Ayuba Abdullahi, the Deputy Bursar of Kwara State University (KWASU) in Malete. All four individuals passed away on the night of February 7 while watching the semi-finals of the ongoing AFCON between Nigeria and South Africa.
Coming together, the players observed a minute of silence as a heartfelt tribute to the departed Nigerians. Subsequently, they offered prayers for the repose of their souls and sought divine comfort for the grieving families.
