A young woman identified as Mrs. Kehinde Raji has been apprehended by the Lagos State Taskforce for allegedly producing and selling contaminated Elubo Isu (yam flour) made from spoiled yam and harmful coloring agents, putting unsuspecting consumers at serious risk.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The arrest was confirmed on Friday, July 25, by the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, who stated that the bust followed a tip-off from the Chairman of the Elubo Sellers Association. The chairman had raised an alarm after noticing suspicious activities among some traders.

“In the early hours of today, we received credible intelligence from the leadership of the Elubo Sellers Association about dangerous food adulteration practices within the market,” Wahab said. “Our enforcement team from KAI (Kick Against Indiscipline) swiftly carried out a raid, which led to the arrest of Mrs. Kehinde Raji, who was caught in the act.”

Preliminary investigations reveal that several consumers may have already suffered health complications after consuming the adulterated yam flour.

Commissioner Wahab commended the market association for their vigilance and assured the public that the suspect will face prosecution under relevant Lagos State public health and consumer protection laws.
