Police Apprehend Two Alleged kidnappers, Free Hostage In Jos 

The Plateau State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers involved in the abduction of a 38-year-old man and the subsequent demand for a N10 million ransom from his family.

The victim was rescued after being abandoned by his captors following a gun battle with police officers in a forest in the Rantiya community, located in Jos South Local Government Area of the state.

During a press briefing on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at the Rantiya Divisional Headquarters, the police spokesperson, DSP Alfred Alabo, announced the arrests. The suspects were apprehended as a result of a coordinated operation led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Rantiya Division and his team.

According to the police, the victim, a 38-year-old man from Port Harcourt, was kidnapped by unknown assailants who demanded a ransom of N10 million, as initially reported in a press release on October 23, 2024. Following extensive investigation, two suspects, Aminu Abdullahi (30) from the Gold and Base area of Jos South and Suleiman Mohammed (20) from Dutsen Kura Basa LGA, were arrested on November 5, 2024, around 12:45 PM.

In the course of the investigation, the victim identified Suleiman Mohammed as one of the kidnappers. Further interrogation revealed that Aminu Abdullahi had received payments from Mohammed on two separate occasions—N10,000 and N5,000—as part of the kidnapping scheme.

The police have assured the public that the investigation is ongoing, and the Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, pledged to continue efforts to maintain peace and security across the state.
