Police Arrest ATM Card Fraudsters, Recover 54 Cards And Point-Of-Sale Machines

The Kaduna State Police Command has dismantled an ATM card swap fraud syndicate, recovering 54 ATM cards from various banks and a Point of Sale (POS) machine……CONTINUE READING 

In a statement released on Friday, August 30, 2024, ASP Mansir Hassan, the command’s spokesperson, revealed that the suspects were apprehended on August 27 following a targeted operation based on reliable intelligence.

Hassan explained that the suspects were known for loitering around ATMs, where they would pose as helpful individuals to unsuspecting users, only to secretly swap their ATM cards and execute unauthorized transactions.

The operation, which took place around 11:00 PM on August 27, led to the arrest of three individuals: Umar Yau from Zoo Road, Kano; Abdullahi Bukar from Tudun Wada, Kaduna; and Hussaini Sulaiman from Zoo Road, Kano. The suspects admitted to defrauding victims across Kano, Kaduna, and Zaria. The ATM cards and POS machine were recovered from their possession.

Commissioner of Police Audu Ali Dabigi assured the public of the Command’s ongoing commitment to community safety. He advised residents to remain vigilant when using ATMs, avoid accepting unsolicited help, and report any suspicious activity at ATM locations to the police.
