FCT Police Commissioner, CP Haruna Garba, announced the arrests during a parade of the suspects in Abuja. He explained that the arrests resulted from intelligence gathering and close collaboration with local vigilantes.

The suspects led the police to the residence of co-conspirator Helen Sylvester, where the victim was held for three days before being rescued and reunited with his parents.

Additionally, the FCT police reported the arrest of suspected phone thieves and fraudsters in possession of approximately 76 SIM cards.

Nuhu Zaria, known for snatching GSM phones, would remove the SIM cards and sell the phones. He would then pass the SIM cards to his girlfriend, Bunmi Samuel, who would withdraw money from accounts linked to the cards.

The police have recovered 76 SIM cards, two Opay ATM cards, and a golden wristwatch from the suspects, who will face charges in court after the conclusion of the investigation.

Furthermore, the Anti-kidnapping unit of the FCT command, acting on actionable intelligence, apprehended Mohammed Hamza of Gaube village, Kuje Area Council, who admitted to being an informant and supplier of drugs and food to a notorious kidnapping kingpin known as Dogo. Dogo is currently on the police’s wanted list and operates in areas bordering Nasarawa State.
