Police Capture Driver On The Run After Ondo Caterer’s Murder

Detectives have apprehended the driver of Monsurat Debbie Olakunbi Adene, a caterer from Akure, who had been on the run after her murder.

According to earlier reports, the 54-year-old caterer was brutally murdered in her home on Oda Road, Akure, on July 25, 2024, just five days after celebrating her birthday.

Police had previously arrested her 17-year-old personal assistant, Philip Emmanuel, in connection with the crime. Emmanuel was found in possession of Adene’s two stolen Android phones, which led to his arrest. He is currently facing charges of murder and has been remanded at the Olokuta Correctional Centre, awaiting legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

In his confession, Emmanuel revealed that they murdered their boss two days after she prepared a special meal for them as a thank-you for their efforts during her birthday celebration. After enjoying the meal, Emmanuel and the driver conspired to kill her, with the driver providing the weapon used to commit the crime.

Further details of the driver’s arrest are yet to be disclosed.
