Police Confirm 2022 Recruitment List Released By PSC

Initially, the police rejected the list, citing concerns about corruption and irregularities in the recruitment process. In response, the PSC maintained its stance, refusing to withdraw the list. This deadlock prompted intervention from the Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Gaidam, and other key stakeholders. After extensive negotiations, a consensus was reached.

Force Spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi announced the resolution on Tuesday. He stated, “After detailed discussions with the PSC, we have reached a mutual agreement on the list of successful applicants.”

Adejobi highlighted that Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun expressed confidence in the new recruits, believing their addition would bolster national security efforts.

“The Nigeria Police Force and the Police Service Commission have reached an agreement on the final merit list for Police Constables,” Adejobi said. “This agreement reflects our commitment to a transparent, fair, and merit-based recruitment process.”

He further noted that the IGP is pleased with the resolution, viewing it as evidence of the collaborative effort between the NPF and PSC to serve the country’s best interests. The recruits are expected to significantly contribute to job creation, enhance internal security, and uphold law and order.

Adejobi added that, following the IGP’s directive, training for the new constables will begin on August 10, 2024. The program will be comprehensive, covering modern policing ethics, community strategies, ICT, AI, human relations, and behavioral change.

“The IGP appreciates the patience and support of all stakeholders and the public during this process,” Adejobi concluded.
