Police Detain 4 For Alleged Conspiracy, Impersonation, And Drug Trafficking

Lagos, Nigeria — The Nigeria Police Force has achieved a major breakthrough in a complex case involving conspiracy, impersonation, hijacking, and drug trafficking……..CONTINUE READING 

According to ASP Mayegun Aminat, Police Public Relations Officer at the AIG Force CID Annex in Alagbon, Ikoyi, a syndicate of armed criminals posing as National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) officers and military personnel hijacked two trucks carrying 5,000 rolls of Tramadol 100mg capsules. The trucks were intercepted after clearing goods at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, and diverted to an unknown location.

ASP Aminat stated, “This case encompasses serious crimes, including conspiracy, impersonation, and the illegal possession of narcotics, which threaten public health and safety. Our detectives from the Anti-Fraud Section of the FCID Annex Lagos promptly initiated an investigation following the petition.”

The investigation began with a verification request to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) regarding the importation documents for the Tramadol capsules. NAFDAC confirmed on September 7, 2023, that the documents were in order, ruling out irregularities from Manfes Pharmaceutical Company Ltd.

A breakthrough occurred when James Casmir Achiborn, a Spy Police Officer, was identified as being involved in escorting the hijacked trucks. The arrest of Mgbemena Innocent M led to further developments, including the capture of additional suspects linked to the narcotics. The CP Special Squad, Lagos State Command, recovered some of the stolen Tramadol and arrested individuals involved in its sale.
