The story was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by SP Bright Edafe, the spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command. He wrote, “A taxi driver has been arrested for suspected involvement in a kidnapping. Why was he arrested? A woman was kidnapped and later released after paying a ransom. The kidnappers took her phone, which was eventually found with the taxi driver’s wife. The wife claimed her husband bought the phone for her. The husband, however, stated that a passenger had left the phone in his car. Now, the question is, how can he prove the phone was actually left in his car? How can he prove he wasn’t involved in the kidnapping? This is why we must all be cautious with phones that do not belong to us.”
