The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has characterized misbehaving policemen as individuals lacking proper manners and exhibiting deviant behavior.

He emphasized the ethical wrongness and unacceptability of any police officer disregarding or showing disrespect towards the directives of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, as well as violating the established rules and regulations of the force.

Adejobi conveyed these sentiments in response to a query from a Netizen, @Boy_Cyril, seeking clarification on the conduct of police officers in the line of duty. @Boy_Cyril pointed out instances where some officers would threaten law-abiding citizens with imprisonment if they insisted on adhering to the IGP’s guidelines during their duties.

Expressing gratitude for the efforts to improve the Nigerian Police Force, @Boy_Cyril highlighted the prevalence of “bad eggs” within the force who, when confronted with directives, retort with statements like “Call the IGP or you will go to jail,” fully aware that citizens lack the IGP’s contact.

In his response, Adejobi condemned such behavior as an act of indiscipline and stressed that it is more reflective of individual traits than a systemic issue within the police force. He asserted that it is inappropriate and unacceptable for any policeman to defy or show disrespect to the IGP’s directives or to flout the established rules and regulations of the police force.
