In the footage, Bidda is seen assaulting one employee and making several attempts to stab others from the distribution company. Kaduna Electric reported the incident to the State Police Command, requesting the arrest, investigation, and prosecution of Bidda on charges including assault, attempted murder, harassment, and intimidation.

The electricity distribution company also urged the police commissioner to transfer the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for a thorough investigation and to ensure the safety of their staff. They highlighted that the officer’s actions breached the law and police conduct codes and could undermine the state’s fragile peace.

Abdulazeez Abdullahi, Head of Corporate Communications at KAEDCO, stated, “The officer’s actions starkly contradict the law and Police code of conduct. We will petition the relevant authorities for appropriate administrative action and prosecution.”

The statement further detailed that Bidda violently confronted the Kaduna Electric staff at his residence on Rimaye Road, Hayin Danmani, while they were conducting a routine inspection of his pre-paid meter. Investigations revealed that the officer had purchased electricity only twice this year.

Witnesses reported that the staff had been sent to check for potential meter bypassing. The situation escalated when Bidda, visibly agitated, brandished a knife, causing significant injuries to a bystander who tried to intervene.

The Rigasa Division of the Kaduna State Police Command has since detained Inspector Bidda, and the case continues to raise concerns about the safety of utility workers and the challenges they face in enforcing regulations.
