Police Rescue Eight Kidnap Victims In Dramatic Katsina Operation

The Katsina State Police Command has successfully foiled three kidnapping attempts by suspected armed bandits in separate incidents across Danmusa and Faskari local government areas, rescuing a total of eight victims.

In a statement issued on Monday, October 7, 2024, the command’s spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, revealed details of the operations.

“At approximately 11 a.m., armed bandits attempted to abduct two women on the outskirts of Matarau village in Danmusa LGA,” the statement said.

Later that same day, Faskari Divisional Police Headquarters received multiple distress calls. At around 2:30 p.m., another group of bandits had blocked the Unguwar Kafa junction along the Yankara-Faskari road, kidnapping two women and their children.

Upon receiving the alerts, police officers swiftly responded, mobilizing to the locations and engaging the attackers in a firefight. The assailants fled, leaving the kidnapped victims behind, all of whom were rescued unharmed.

According to the police, the fleeing bandits sustained gunshot wounds during the encounter.
