Police Warn Toluwanisings Associates Against Social Media Battles As Burial Dispute Deepens
The Oyo State Police Command has secured a peace agreement between the family and associates of late gospel singer Olayemi Bayonle Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, following disagreements over his death and burial arrangements.
The agreement was reached after the Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, intervened in the dispute and invited the parties to the command headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the command received information on October 28, 2026, about disagreements among the singer’s relatives, friends and associates, alongside allegations of conspiracy, defamation and conduct capable of causing a breach of peace.
The police commissioner subsequently directed that the parties be invited for a meeting to prevent the disagreement from escalating.
At the conclusion of the engagement on November 3, the singer’s wife, Mrs Olayemi Elizabeth Damilola; his father, Mr Muniru Olayemi; and several friends and associates signed a peace undertaking before the commissioner.
Other individuals involved included Oyindamola Esther, Babadunni Gbolabo, Comrade Lawal Ademola Rafiu, the deceased’s personal assistant and other representatives.
Under the agreement, all parties committed themselves to maintaining peace and avoiding actions capable of escalating tensions surrounding the singer’s death and burial arrangements.
They also agreed to discontinue public arguments, interviews and discussions relating to the matter, particularly those capable of worsening the disagreement.
The undertaking further prohibits the parties from circulating allegations, narratives or publications about the dispute through social media, newspapers, radio, blogs and other communication platforms.
They also agreed not to use agents, associates or other representatives to publish, sponsor or amplify content capable of reigniting the controversy. The parties are expected to ensure that their supporters and proxies comply with the agreement.
The Commissioner of Police warned all those involved to respect the undertaking and ensure that their representatives, agents and associates do the same.
Toluwanisings died in Ibadan on October 14, 2026, after reportedly collapsing. His death generated public controversy following allegations that some hospitals declined to provide him with emergency medical attention while efforts were being made to secure treatment.
The latest police intervention is aimed at preventing further disputes among his relatives and associates as discussions surrounding his burial continue.
