Political Earthquake! Another APC Bigwig Dumps Governorship Ambition In Anambra

Another aspirant has withdrawn from the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in Anambra State, just a day before the election, stirring tension within the party.

Paul Chukwuma, a prominent contender from Umueri in Anambra North, announced his withdrawal from the race on Friday. In a surprising twist, he also resigned from the APC, citing dissatisfaction with certain internal party dynamics.

While addressing APC members, Chukwuma reaffirmed his unwavering support for President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, stressing that his decision to exit the party was not a reflection of his opinion on the president’s leadership.

He stated, “President Tinubu is not the problem with the APC. The real issue lies with the unprogressive elements within the party who are hindering its growth.”

Chukwuma further revealed that he had submitted his resignation to the ward chairman, noting, “For now, I need to take a break after years of building this party from the ground up.”

Earlier reports confirmed that another aspirant, Chukwuma Umeoji from Aguata, had also stepped down from the race. In his withdrawal letter, Umeoji expressed gratitude to his supporters and wished the party success in the forthcoming primaries.

Despite the recent exits, the battle for the APC ticket remains intense, with top contenders like Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, Edozie Madu, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, Valentine Ozigbo, and Johnbosco Onunkwo still in the race.
