Political Earthquake: Dino Melaye Exits PDP, Leaves Party In Turmoil Reason Why

Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing the party’s failure to provide effective leadership and good governance to Nigerians.

In a resignation letter dated July 4, 2025, and shared on his official Twitter account, the former PDP governorship candidate for Kogi State expressed his disillusionment with the party’s direction and performance.

The letter was addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ward 1 in Aiyetoro Gbede, Ijumu Local Government Area, Kogi State.

Melaye explained that after deep reflection, he concluded that the PDP lacks the strength and competence to address Nigeria’s worsening political and leadership challenges.

“I am hereby resigning from the Peoples Democratic Party and all related involvement with immediate effect,” Melaye wrote.

“This decision stems from the party’s glaring inability to rescue Nigerians from the entrenched political decay crippling our nation.

“After thoughtful consideration, I can no longer in good conscience align myself with the party’s activities or endorse its agenda.
