Political Storm Erupts As Akpabio Demands Hard Evidence From Natasha On Abuse Claims
Senate President Godswill Akpabio has challenged Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to present concrete evidence backing her allegations of sexual harassment against him.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement released on Saturday by his media aide, Jackson Udom, Akpabio insisted that Akpoti-Uduaghan must prove her claims with credible facts rather than public assertions.
The statement, titled “Setting the record straight on the defamation case involving Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan,” clarified that her allegations had never been supported by evidence before any Senate committee or lawful authority.
According to the Senate President, following Akpoti-Uduaghan’s accusations—which he described as damaging and unsubstantiated—he exercised his constitutional right to seek justice by filing a defamation suit more than three months ago.
He explained that the delay in the case was caused by standard court procedures, including several unsuccessful attempts by a court bailiff to serve the Senator, whom he accused of intentionally evading service. Only after repeated attempts did the court grant substituted service in November.
Akpabio dismissed Akpoti-Uduaghan’s recent claim that the suit was newly filed, calling it misleading and aimed at manipulating public opinion.
He emphasised that legal matters must be addressed in court, not through “social-media outrage” or orchestrated narratives, and criticised what he described as her tendency to seek online validation, even during her past Senate suspension.
The Senate President urged Akpoti-Uduaghan to stop relying on emotional appeal and instead present the alleged evidence before a competent court.
He concluded by noting that the public now awaits her official response in court, where the truth will be tested by due process, not sentiment.
