Political Tensions Escalate As Nenadi Usman Blasts Abure’s Faction

The Special Adviser to the Interim National Chairman of the Labour Party, Nenadi Usman, Ken Asogwa, has criticized the Julius Abure-led faction over claims that his faction invaded the party’s secretariat.

On Tuesday, the Abure-led faction alleged that Senator Nenadi Usman’s group had entered the Labour Party’s National Secretariat at night and removed valuables.

Responding on Arise Television on Wednesday, Asogwa denied the allegations, asserting that it was actually members of Abure’s faction who illegally attempted to storm the party headquarters.

He explained that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recognizes the January 30, 2026 Federal High Court judgment, which affirmed Nenadi Usman as the party’s legitimate chairman.

Asogwa said:
“Those claiming that we invaded the secretariat are, in fact, the hoodlums who tried to storm our headquarters under the cover of night to reclaim the National Secretariat. On January 30, 2026, just a week after the judgment, INEC updated its records to reflect Nenadi Usman as the Labour Party chairman. Only four days ago, she was invited to the quarterly consultative meeting that INEC holds with political party leaders. On that basis, we resumed office in the National Secretariat on Tuesday to perform our duties as the duly recognized leadership of the Labour Party, as ordered by the Federal High Court.”
