Political Tensions Rise As Shehu Sani Details Reasons Behind Obasa’s Removal

Obasa faced accusations of financial misappropriation by the House. Sani provided the following contributing factors: “FIVE factors that can lead to the impeachment of a State Assembly Speaker; Experiences from 1999 – When there is a strong suspicion that the Speaker is plotting impeachment. – When the Speaker becomes too independent and resists taking orders from the Governor. – When the Speaker is not “taking good care” of members and leaving them “hungry.” – When the Speaker deliberately delays or obstructs the passage of Governor’s interested Bills. – When the Speaker is strongly accused of colluding with enemies of the Governor.” Heavy security was deployed around the State House of Assembly as the political drama unfolded, coinciding with rumors of Obasa’s potential gubernatorial ambitions for the 2027 elections.
