John Chuma Nwosu, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate in the November 8, 2025 Anambra State governorship election, has condemned the alleged assassination attempt on former presidential candidate Peter Obi in Edo State, describing it as “disheartening and unacceptable.”....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement issued from Awka, Nwosu said the incident represents a serious threat to Nigeria’s democratic principles.

“An attack on Peter Obi is an attack on all Nigerians who believe in peace, civility, and the right of citizens to freely engage in politics,” he said.

He emphasized that politics should never be driven by anger, threats, or violence. “Democracy thrives when people exchange ideas respectfully, resolve differences through dialogue, and uphold rules—not through aggression or intimidation,” Nwosu added.

The ADC governorship candidate urged that political disagreements must never escalate into acts that endanger lives or destabilize the nation.

He called on security agencies to promptly investigate the matter and bring those responsible to justice. “I urge the relevant security authorities to act swiftly, identify the perpetrators, and ensure they are held accountable. Accountability is key to preventing such incidents and restoring public confidence,” he stated.

Nwosu concluded by stressing the need for Nigeria to foster a political culture rooted in tolerance, maturity, and respect for democratic values. “Our nation must move beyond violence and embrace politics guided by respect and democratic principles,” he said.
