Port Harcourt Incident: Siblings Attack Teacher Detain Admin Officer Over Brother’s Discipline

The family of a J.S.S.1 student from a secondary school in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, known simply as Favour, reportedly confronted a female teacher, Sonia Amadi, on her way to work and physically assaulted her for allegedly disciplining their child.According to reports from The Punch, the family members also entered the school premises and locked the Admin Officer, Joy Ajayi, inside her office, threatening to do the same to her.

It was gathered that the intervention of other parents prevented the family from further assaulting the female teacher, who had already been physically attacked.Speaking to journalists, Joy Ajayi, an Admin Officer at ‘Silver Bird International School,’ Agip, Mile 4, Port Harcourt, recounted the incident. She stated that three boys entered her office, locked the door, and threatened her with scissors, demanding to know why their brother was disciplined at the school.Ajayi explained that despite efforts from other teachers to mediate, the boys remained adamant, refusing to unlock the door for over 15 to 20 minutes. Eventually, their father arrived, prompting them to open the door and leave.She further disclosed that prior to the incident in her office, a teacher, Sonia Amadi, was severely beaten by the same family on her way to school, with even the mother of the student joining in by slapping the teacher.
