The governor’s decision was disclosed on Wednesday during a press briefing at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Centre in Lafia by his Senior Special Adviser on Public Affairs, Peter Ahemba.

According to Ahemba, Governor Sule had repeatedly cautioned his appointees to steer clear of early political activities, stressing that such actions not only violate the Electoral Act but also distract from the administration’s governance agenda.

“The governor has sacked one of his aides who engaged in open campaigning despite several warnings to desist from the act,” Ahemba announced.

Dismissed Aide Campaigned for Ex-IGP

Ahemba identified the dismissed aide as Architect Ahmed Usman Seriki, the former Senior Special Adviser on Works and ex-chairman of Doma Local Government Area. He was removed from office for openly campaigning for former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, who is reportedly eyeing the governorship seat in 2027.

“Governor Sule could not condone open defiance of his directive on early campaigns. The aide challenged his principal by publicly promoting a governorship aspirant, and the governor acted swiftly,” Ahemba stated.

He reaffirmed that Governor Sule’s focus remains on delivering effective governance and key infrastructural projects, not on premature political maneuvering.

Government Reaffirms Commitment to Major Projects

In a related update, Ahemba disclosed that the Nasarawa State Government had renewed its commitment to complete the Karu flyovers and underpass project before the end of Governor Sule’s tenure in 2027.

He revealed that the state recently obtained Federal Government approval to construct two flyovers and one underpass in Mararaba, Karu Local Government Area.

“The government had already set aside the funds for these projects even before they were conceived,” Ahemba noted, explaining that the administration’s policy since 2019 ensures that funds are secured before any project commences — a measure designed to prevent abandoned projects.

He added that the initiative aims to ease traffic congestion and improve road durability along the busy Karu–Mararaba corridor.

The Nasarawa Urban Development Agency (NUDA), he said, has been tasked with conducting feasibility studies and site assessments to pave the way for contract awards.

“The government will ensure the completion of all ongoing projects before the end of this administration,” Ahemba assured.

New Security Measures

On security, Ahemba announced that the state government plans to deploy Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras and drones to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities.

“The government has adopted new strategies to tackle emerging security threats,” he said, emphasizing that security agencies and stakeholders are working together to curb crime across the state.
