Gabam made this disclosure on Monday, March 24, 2025, during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
He highlighted that the SDP, which recently welcomed former Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai from the All Progressives Congress (APC), remains open to more high-profile political defections.
According to Gabam, the party’s primary objective is to unseat President Bola Tinubu’s government in the 2027 elections. He expressed confidence in the SDP’s chances, arguing that the APC-led administration has lost touch with the people’s concerns and risks being voted out.
He further asserted that Tinubu’s perceived political expertise alone would not be enough to secure APC’s victory in 2027.
“Almost every day, we receive new defectors into the SDP, from every state in the federation, including today. I even welcomed some in my office—these are high-profile individuals,” Gabam stated.
“If you check online, you’ll see over 300 resignation letters from VIPs—some of them senators, some ministers—who have joined our party,” he added.
Asserting the SDP’s ambition to take over power, Gabam emphasized that no political party is guaranteed victory, stressing that leadership is not the monopoly of any individual or party.
