The rationing is due to the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA)’s road dualisation project along the Apo axis. According to TCN spokesperson, Mbah, eight 132 kV and 33 kV towers will be relocated along the Kukwaba/Apo 132 kV line (Outer Southern Expressway route).

The relocation will require a planned power outage from 9 am to 4 pm daily, between January 6 and January 20, to facilitate the dismantling and construction of the towers. The work will also involve restringing power cables to restore bulk power supply to the Apo Transmission Substation from the Gwagwalada Substation.

While TCN acknowledges the inconvenience this may cause, they emphasized that the tower relocation is necessary for the road project’s completion. TCN assured customers that power supply would be restored once the relocation and cable stringing are completed.
