Speaking to journalists in Bauchi, Darazo appealed to the Presidency and the national leadership of the APC to urgently step in, warning that Pantami’s possible defection would be a huge political setback for the ruling party, particularly in Northern Nigeria.
He described Pantami as more than just a politician, noting that his exit would significantly weaken the APC’s intellectual and moral foundation.
Darazo said, “The attention of the Presidency and the national leadership of our great party, the APC, is urgently needed to address the growing concerns surrounding talks about our respected brother and statesman, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami’s likely exit. His departure will be a major political loss and setback for the APC both in the North and across Nigeria.
“Professor Pantami is more than a politician — he is an intellectual, reformer, and bridge-builder who has consistently leveraged knowledge, faith, and integrity to promote good governance and inspire young Nigerians.”
The APC stalwart urged President Bola Tinubu, the party’s national chairman, and other top stakeholders to engage Pantami in dialogue and address any grievances that might have influenced his decision.
He added, “The APC’s strength has always rested on unity, inclusion, and visionary leadership. Every loyal member matters — especially someone like Professor Pantami, whose influence and moral standing transcend party lines. The APC cannot afford to lose such an invaluable pillar at this crucial stage of our political journey.”
