Presidency Reacts As DHQ Declares Eight Persons Wanted Over Killing Of 17 Soldiers In Delta

The Presidency has responded to the announcement of seven men and one woman being declared wanted for their alleged involvement in the tragic murder of 17 Nigerian soldiers in the Okuama community of Delta State.

In a statement released via its official channels, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) declared the eight suspects wanted for their alleged roles in the killing of the army officers and soldiers during a peacekeeping mission.

Among those listed as wanted by the Nigerian military are Akevwru Omotegbono, Prof. Ekpekpo Arthur, Andaowei Dennis Bakriri, Igoli Ebi, Akata Malawa David, Sinclear Oliki, Clement Ikolo Oghenerukevwe, and Reuben Baru.

Responding to this development, Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, voiced support for the military’s actions. He urged Nigerians to demonstrate patriotism by reporting any information about the accused individuals to military authorities or the police.

Onanuga emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring justice for the slain soldiers, encouraging citizens to actively contribute to the resolution of the case.

Previously, it was reported that the 17 soldiers were laid to rest with solemn ceremonies at the Military Cemetery in Abuja, evoking deep emotions among mourners.
