In a recent interview with Nigeria Info radio, Bwala was asked why authorities can quickly trace and apprehend Nigerians who post online grievances, yet struggle to locate bandits responsible for numerous killings and property destruction over the years.

He clarified that ordinary Nigerians are easier to track because they use internet services within the country, whereas bandits often rely on services originating outside Nigeria.

“There is a regulatory body in Nigeria that maintains a database of citizens and their phone numbers. Similarly, internet service providers within Nigeria can trace users through IP addresses. But if you are using Starlink, for instance, it cannot be traced because it is not registered in Nigeria — it’s a space-based service. This is a challenge seen even in Ukraine and Russia. Most of these terrorists use cellular networks from neighboring countries, not Nigeria, making them much harder to track,” Bwala explained.
