President Tinubu Nominates New CCB Chairman, Seeks Senate Approval

President Bola Tinubu has officially requested the Nigerian Senate to confirm Abdullahi Usman as the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB). This announcement came as Tinubu’s letter was read during Thursday’s plenary session.

Tinubu’s nomination of Usman comes after his prior approval of Bello as the new CCB Chairman back in March. According to a statement from presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale in Abuja, Bello’s appointment is contingent upon Senate confirmation.

Ngelale highlighted Tinubu’s expectation that Bello will steer the Bureau towards fulfilling its mission of upholding high standards of public morality. Describing Bello as a seasoned professional with over 25 years of diverse experience, the statement underlined Tinubu’s belief that, once confirmed, Bello will lead the Bureau with integrity, ensuring that public officials adhere to the highest ethical standards.

Bello’s appointment marks the replacement of Aliyu Kankia, who previously served as the acting Chairman of the Bureau.
