Under the new directives, ministers and heads of federal agencies are now limited to a maximum of three vehicles in their official convoys, with no additional vehicles permitted for movement.

The statement highlights that this cost-cutting measure aims to streamline government operations. Earlier this year, President Tinubu implemented similar reductions, cutting down the entourage for foreign trips from 50 to 20 officials and for local trips to 25. The Vice President’s entourage was also limited to five officials for foreign trips and 15 for local trips.

Additionally, the directive stipulates that ministers and heads of agencies may only have five security personnel, consisting of four police officers and one Department of State Services (DSS) officer. No extra security personnel will be allowed.

The President has instructed the National Security Adviser to work with military and security agencies to assess and implement further reductions in vehicle and security personnel deployment. All officials affected by these changes are expected to comply immediately, reflecting the administration’s commitment to fiscal responsibility.
