Senator Adeola emphasized that the Senate anticipates receiving the 2024 appropriation bill in the upcoming week.

In preparation for the impending presentation, the Senate Committee on Appropriation has extended an invitation to Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, for a meeting scheduled for next Wednesday.

Senator Adeola made a commitment to conduct a thorough review of the budget before its approval. He further articulated the legislators’ intention to maintain the January to December budget timeline initiated by the 9th National Assembly.

He stated, “It is essential to acknowledge the recent change in government, which took place on May 29, 2023. The new administration has introduced a fresh vision and may face certain challenges due to this change.”

“We will meticulously scrutinize the budget to ensure it aligns with the public’s expectations. We are awaiting the MTEF next week, and as soon as we receive the document, the Committee on Finance will begin its evaluation.”

Senator Adeola assured that they would adhere to the tradition of delivering the budget on time, adhering to the January to December budget cycle.

Regarding the issue of budget padding, Senator Adeola expressed his lack of belief in such practices but guaranteed that the lawmakers would work diligently to ensure the budget addresses the needs and desires of the citizens.
