Bayo Onanuga, the special adviser to President Bola Tinubu on information and strategy, has offered counsel to former Kogi governor, Yahaya Bello, suggesting that he present himself to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Onanuga, in a post on his verified X account, questioned Bello’s escape plans and recommended that he face the EFCC while securing competent legal representation.
“Yahaya Bello, where will you run to? It’s better you submit yourself to the EFCC and get a good lawyer,” Onanuga expressed.
Earlier, Naija News reported on the EFCC’s declaration of Bello as wanted. The commission issued a circular to journalists on Thursday, disclosing that Bello is being sought for economic and financial crimes amounting to N80.2 billion. The EFCC’s notice urged anyone with information on his whereabouts to promptly contact the commission or the nearest police station.
Yahaya Bello, identified as a 48-year-old Ebiraman from Okene Local Government of Kogi State, was the subject of an attempted arrest by EFCC operatives at his Abuja residence on Wednesday. However, Governor Usman Ododo reportedly facilitated Bello’s evasion from the premises during the operation.
