Pressure Mounts On Ganduje To Step Down, Says APC Group

The Forum of Stakeholders within the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a firm call for Abdullahi Ganduje, the party’s embattled national chairman, to step down from his position. Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, the North-Central chairman of the forum, emphasized this stance during a recent interview with journalists in Jos.

Zazzaga expressed concerns over the ongoing turmoil surrounding Ganduje’s leadership tenure, highlighting the detrimental impact it could have on the party. Despite mounting pressure for his removal, Ganduje has steadfastly clung to his position, a stance Zazzaga believes could exacerbate internal discord within the APC.

The North-Central chairman questioned the wisdom of the North-West stakeholders’ decision to endorse Ganduje, arguing that such support would only sow further confusion within the party’s ranks. He cited numerous votes of no confidence from Ganduje’s Kano Ward, along with protests and legal challenges, as evidence of widespread discontent.

Zazzaga stressed that Ganduje’s insistence on remaining in office could ultimately hinder the APC’s progress and expose the party to legal risks. Given the controversies surrounding Ganduje, Zazzaga urged him to resign to prevent further harm to the party’s reputation.

Additionally, Zazzaga advocated for a shift in the party’s leadership dynamics, suggesting that the position of national chairman should naturally rotate to the North-Central region. He argued that this move would uphold principles of fairness and equity within the APC, particularly considering the region’s significant contributions to the party’s success.

Drawing on his experience as a member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Zazzaga underscored the importance of unity and inclusivity in advancing the party’s objectives. By prioritizing regional balance and meritocracy in leadership appointments, Zazzaga believes the APC can strengthen its internal cohesion and enhance its effectiveness as Nigeria’s ruling party
