The Coalition of Civil Society Groups has called upon Inspector-General of Police (I-G), Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, to release the police investigation report concerning the alleged murder of Victor Obafaite and Jimoh Asimi.
Obafaite and Asimi lost their lives following the 2007 House of Representatives election in Kabba/Bunu LGA.
Mr. Wisdom Chinedu, the convener, released a statement in Abuja on Monday, urging Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun to take action.
Chinedu called upon the IG-P to instruct the relevant authorities involved in the case to disclose their investigation reports.
He stressed the need to uncover the circumstances surrounding the duo’s deaths and expressed skepticism about the credibility of the prior committee.
Chinedu underlined the importance of justice, stating that the alleged mastermind of the attack should be promptly arrested and charged with murder.
Chinedu demanded that all individuals directly or indirectly responsible for the 2007 violence face legal consequences.
He noted that there are still witnesses who can testify against the perpetrators.
Chinedu emphasized the urgency of these actions, citing threats of violence in the ongoing governorship election campaign, with allegations of known cultists being employed to disrupt the election.
