Speaking to his congregation in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, the cleric emphasized that believers should not hold back their resources, saying that giving cannot make a person poor.
He also revealed that he has the financial capacity to purchase private jets, but has chosen instead to channel resources into church development.
“Please don’t tie down your destiny with stinginess. Giving does not make people poor, never. If giving makes people poor, then I would have been poor, but I can’t be poor,” he said.
Ibiyeomie explained that his giving is motivated by devotion to God rather than excess wealth, adding that some members of his church may even have more cash than he does but give less.
He added that if he chose to, he could afford multiple private jets, but prefers to prioritize the construction of a grand cathedral instead.
“We don’t give because we have more than others; we give because we love God. There are people who have physical cash in this church more than me, but they don’t give what I give. If I want to buy a jet today in this church, I can buy a jet. All I need to do is stop the Cathedral, and I will buy jets. That Cathedral can buy jets, not a jet. I can buy jets of any kind, but I said no because the kingdom of God is the first,” he said.
He further added that his vision for the church includes building a highly elegant worship centre, noting that even traditional palaces with gold-inspired designs have influenced his desire for excellence in church architecture.
