In response to this situation, Falana pointed out that Adedayo was invited by the Ogun State Command of the DSS in relation to a petition submitted by the Ogun State Government.
The petition aeged that Mr. Adedayo had incited widespread public disturbances and chaos in Ijebu East Local Government. Despite Adedayo’s denial of these allegations, the DSS has continued to detain him, apparently due to his refusal to retract the accusations against Governor Abiodun.
Expanding on his perspective, Falana advised the governor to pursue a libel lawsuit against Adedayo. He cited previous instances, such as when the late Governor Olabisi Onabanjo sued the National Concord newspaper for libel in 1981, and former Governor Segun Osoba’s successful defamation of character lawsuit against the Punch Newspaper in 2001, to highlight the effectiveness of legal recourse in such cases.
In light of the circumstances surrounding this case, Falana urged the Ogun State Command of the DSS to release Mr. Adedayo from custody without delay.
