He underscored that El-Rufai’s past contributions to the power sector reform around the year 2000 served as a pivotal driving force behind the sector’s transformative initiatives.
However, Kunle expressed concern over subsequent policy shifts that eroded the progress generated by the former governor of Kaduna State.
“Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai is the visionary who laid the foundation for power sector reform. He collaborated with the knowledgeable Dr. Larry Babalola in these efforts.
Although various individuals have made significant contributions to this reform, the changing policies every four years have caused the erosion of the substantial achievements that were established between 2000 and 2007.”
Kunle suggested that Asiwaju (Tinubu) should assemble a diverse team of experts to collaborate on building a robust power sector reform, given the sector’s current challenges.
He acknowledged the power sector’s decline and emphasized El-Rufai’s unique blend of courage, understanding, and insider knowledge that position him to play a pivotal role.
“In the midst of potential candidates, Nasir El-Rufai stands out due to his unparalleled courage and deep understanding of the intricate dynamics of the power sector.
While other candidates may possess similar qualities, El-Rufai’s achievements are tangible and evident. We have observed his capabilities.”
Kunle further revealed that a collective of individuals, himself included, are actively advocating for El-Rufai to reprise his role in the power sector, considering their comprehensive knowledge and insight into the intricate workings of the country’s power infrastructure.
He questioned the effectiveness of eight years of noise and propaganda regarding the electricity sector and its tangible outcomes.
