Public Outrage Boils Over: Reasons Tinubu Is Being Urged To Sack Matawalle Revealed

Security and counter-insurgency analyst, Zagazola Makama, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to dismiss the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, in the wake of the resignation of Defence Minister Abubakar Badaru.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Badaru, in a letter dated December 1, 2025, attributed his resignation to health challenges. A statement signed by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga confirmed that President Tinubu has accepted the resignation, expressed appreciation for Badaru’s service, and will forward a replacement to the Senate later in the week.

Responding to the development in a post on , Zagazola also called for the removal of the Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam.

He wrote:

“When will Matawalle GO?
Nigeria’s security architecture continues to suffer not only from operational lapses but from leadership failures at the highest level.”

He noted that Nigerians are increasingly demanding the exit of officials who lack the competence and experience required to manage critical national security institutions.

According to him, the first major failure under the Defence Ministry was the appointment of individuals widely viewed as lacking the strategic depth and expertise necessary for sensitive national security roles.

Zagazola added that the Ministry of Police Affairs is no different, arguing that the presence and impact of Senator Gaidam remain largely invisible to the public.

He stressed that these are not symbolic offices but frontline ministries that require seasoned professionals with proven track records in security management, operational coordination and institutional reform.

He warned that without capable leadership at the helm, Nigeria’s battle against insecurity risks being sabotaged from within.
