Ramadan Relief Stolen! Truck Transporting Tinubu’s Iftar Goods Hijacked In Broad Daylight

Gombe Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, confirmed the incident, revealing that the hijacking occurred after a portion of the goods had already been offloaded. This led to widespread concern about the whereabouts of the remaining supplies.

In an interview with Punch on Monday, Abdullahi explained that the truck, carrying Ramadan food donations from Seyi Tinubu, had successfully delivered about 90% of the goods at the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat. The remaining items were en route to another location when the hijacking took place.

“The truck was transporting Seyi Tinubu’s foodstuffs for Iftar,” Abdullahi noted. “Regrettably, there was no security presence until the situation escalated, and it became clear that something was amiss.”

The police responded quickly and brought the truck driver in for questioning. The driver confirmed that most of the supplies had already been delivered, with the remainder intended for Gombe State.

Abdullahi stressed the importance of implementing security measures during distributions, suggesting that crowd control should always involve police officers to avoid such incidents.

“The ideal scenario is to involve security personnel for crowd control whenever distributing items,” Abdullahi said. “Unfortunately, we were not notified about the distribution in advance, and by the time the truck was hijacked, panic had already spread among the public.”
