During a visit to Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, at his residence in Umuehim Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South local government, Chief Onuigbo emphasized the importance of Abia having a federal presence through a secretariat in Umuahia. He criticized past governments for not compensating landowners for the proposed project, which he claims has delayed its realization for 33 years since the state’s inception.

Onuigbo, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stated that he had been instrumental in pushing for the federal secretariat project, alongside other infrastructure developments such as the rehabilitation of Umuahia-Ikwuano-Ikot Ekpene Road, Apunmiri Ubakala Skills Acquisition Center, and Achingala-Umunwawa road in Ubakala, Umuahia South local government.
