Wike made these remarks while speaking with journalists in Abuja. He acknowledged the ban on commercial motorcycles from operating within the city center and clarified that no firm decision had been made yet. This was because the FCT Administration had not yet supplied buses as an alternative means of transportation within the city.
He emphasized that the government’s responsibility was to provide alternatives before asking motorcycle operators to vacate the city center to avoid causing hardship to commuters.
Regarding the problem of open grazing in Abuja, Wike stated that while cattle would be allowed to graze in the suburbs, they would not be permitted in the city center. He stressed the importance of consulting with cattle owners and the public before implementing any decisions to ensure that there is no unnecessary conflict.
