Recruitment Rush! 1.9 Million Nigerians Storm NSCDC, NIS, Fire Service Applications – Kogi, Kaduna, Benue Top List

A total of 1,911,141 Nigerians have applied for the 2025 recruitment exercise of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), according to figures published on the board’s official website.

The recruitment process, initially slated to begin on June 26, was delayed multiple times due to technical glitches—first pushed to July 14, then further postponed to July 21. Persistent portal crashes and temporary suspensions forced the board to extend the original closing date from August 4 to Monday, August 11.

Kogi, Kaduna, and Benue Top the List
Data from the CDCFIB portal shows that Kogi (116,162), Kaduna (114,536), and Benue (110,565) recorded the highest number of applications. Close behind were Kano and Niger, with the top five states collectively submitting 510,174 applications.

On the other end, Bayelsa (11,669), Lagos (14,216), Rivers (22,210), Ebonyi (23,601), and Delta (27,962) jointly accounted for 99,658 applications.

In a statement posted on its official handle on Monday, the CDCFIB expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their interest in serving in the paramilitary agencies and announced the next stage of the process.

“Recruitment Applications Closed! The official recruitment portal for the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board is now closed. We thank all applicants for their interest and commitment to serving with honour, integrity, and national pride.
