Remains Of Missing Teen Identified: Human Head And Hands Discovered In FreezerHuman body parts discovered in a freezer have been identified as those of Amanda Leariel Overstreet, a teenage girl who went missing nearly two decades ago. Police reported that Amanda was never officially reported missing, and her case had remained unsolved until the recent discovery. The remains were found when the new homeowner sought to sell the freezer online to clear out the house in Colorado.
The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office stated that a person retrieving the freezer discovered “the head and hands of a human” inside. Authorities responded to the incident on January 12, and the county coroner’s office confirmed the identity of the victim last Friday.
“Amanda is believed to have been approximately 16 years old at the time of her disappearance,” the sheriff’s office noted, adding that she was the biological daughter of the home’s previous owner.
Forensic testing on the evidence is planned, and the sheriff’s office emphasized that the current homeowners are unrelated to the previous case. They urged the public to respect the privacy of the new owners and their neighbors.
Initially investigated as a possible homicide, the sheriff’s office warned against speculation, stating, “We want to make sure that someone doesn’t find out their loved one has passed away through rumors and innuendo.” Amanda’s biological mother, Leanne Overstreet Imer, is now 55, and her late husband, Bradley Imer, was Amanda’s stepfather.
