She made this remark during a courtesy visit to the palace of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, in Ile-Ife, Osun State, on Thursday. Mrs. Tinubu emphasized that while the Tinubu administration is diligently working to address the country’s pressing challenges, Nigerians must also strive to support themselves.

The First Lady reassured citizens that the government is committed to ensuring they do not face disappointment and urged patience with the administration. She stated, “There is no food for the lazy man; even God worked for six days and rested on the seventh day. Nigeria is a land flowing with milk and honey, but we need to sustain it for generations to come.”

Mrs. Tinubu highlighted her family’s prior blessings and their contentment before her husband assumed the presidency. “We are just two years into our administration; we are not the cause of the current situation. We are focused on fixing it and securing a better future,” she added.

She expressed concern that the positive developments happening in the country are often overlooked, noting that nations worldwide are eager to engage with Nigeria in legitimate business. “There is a government in power now that they know is accountable,” she stated, underscoring the administration’s commitment to stabilizing the economy and improving the lives of citizens since the removal of the fuel subsidy.

In response, the Ooni acknowledged the First Lady’s visit to Ile-Ife and praised the Tinubu administration’s efforts to elevate Nigeria to its full potential. The visit also included the commissioning of the 2.7-kilometer Oluremi Tinubu Way and Pavilion at Obafemi Awolowo University, a project dedicated to her by the monarch.
