He further highlighted the governor’s initiative to involve hospital management in facility operations and his commitment to providing life insurance coverage for all Lagos State Government employees.
In his statement, Omokri emphasized the lessons learned from the tragedy and noted, “The actions taken by Governor Sanwoolu so far over the unfortunate elevator-linked death of Dr.
Vwaere Diaso, from the suspension of the GM of the Lagos State Infrastructure and Asset Management Agency, the delisting and sacking of the facility management company and the arrest and handing over of the elevator installers to the police for prosecution has been very commendable.”
He went on to say, “And introducing a policy to involve the hospital management in the running of the facility shows that the government has learnt needed lessons from this needless tragedy. I am hard-pressed to see how the Lagos State Government could have handled the situation better.”
Omokri concluded by recognizing the provision of life insurance to government staff as a positive step, offering a small measure of comfort to Dr. Diaso’s family. He commended Lagos State for its effective governance and its efforts in restoring public confidence through its actions.
