In a post on Instagram, Omokri questioned the depth of thinking of those who celebrated such gestures, asserting that if luxury cars were the concern, Nigeria’s Nnewi-based company IVM Motors manufactures entirely made-in-Nigeria cars, including limousine formats with bulletproof capabilities.
He emphasized that luxury vehicles do not require visiting Russia when they can be enjoyed within Africa.
Omokri also referenced the words of the late General Murtala Ramat Muhammed, who once proclaimed that “Africa has come of age,” and expressed his disappointment at how current African leaders groveled in Russia in 2023.
He compared them unfavorably to leaders like Thomas Sankara, suggesting that leaders who can be bought for the price of a luxury car lack integrity.
Additionally, he pointed out that Western leaders also travel together in buses during G-7 summits, and many of them walk or bike to work.
Omokri urged Africans not to celebrate cars as if they have never seen them before, as it diminishes the continent’s more pressing issues.
