Following General Abdourahamane Tchiani’s televised announcement that the military would hand over power to a civilian government in three years, Omokri labeled the promise as empty and aimed at seeking relief from ECOWAS.
Comparing it to past broken pledges, he called for intensified ECOWAS pressure, including shutting down the country’s internet, to prevent a spread of coup influence.
Omokri emphasized that making an example of the junta leader was crucial to averting potential turmoil across West African nations.
